The Walsgrave Triangle has seen car crime cut by 20 per cent, after security help from Coventry's Business Improvement District (BID) team. Last year, Police were concerned about crime affecting motor vehicles in the area - including the Cross Point business park. Several months ago they briefed the Coventry BID's mobile security patrols to look for possible offenders. And the latest Police operational analysis report has reported the year-on-year reduction, which it attributes to the patrols. George Want, business crime prevention officer, said: "Reducing crime is a key part of what the Coventry BID set-out to achieve. "To receive such promising news shows how much of a difference the security patrols are making. "We visit the Cross Point business park several times a day and after being asked to target specific roads and car parks in the area, the Police have seen a reduction. "It's massively important because crime prevention saves money. Business vehicles are safer and therefore companies and owners are not facing the stress and financial cost of crime. "We have various patrols on the road around the clock and the constant presence makes a different." Coventry Best for Business, the company which carries out the BID, is currently installing actively-monitored CCTV across 84 business parks and estates.
