Company opts to join the BID |

A local adult support organisation which is outside of the Coventry BID area has become the first to sign up for the service voluntarily.
Individual Support Service (ISS) provide round the clock, one-to-one support to adults with learning disabilities and autism.
The company, which started in 2001 and has grown to support 24 individuals with the help of 34 staff, is based just outside of the BID catchment area at Willenhall Lane, Binley.
Maureen Kirk, director of ISS, decided to join the BID to improve her security and presence in the community, while reducing her outgoings.
“We are just outside the BID area but we want to be able to use things
like the CCTV camera, which is on the edge of our unit, and to have the
security car patrols monitoring our unit,” Mrs Kirk said.
“The BID has had a lot of adverse publicity but I have looked at the
benefits and want access to a lot of them and to be part of the
business community.
“It’s new to us but services like the broadband will also help us so there were a lot of positive reasons to join.
“The CCTV and patrol cars will also be good to put on our insurance
forms, and it should reduce the premium so that’s another cost we
should save.”
Andrew Vale, the Business Area Champion for ISS, said other BID
businesses should look at the different ways they can get benefits from
the scheme.
“For ISS, the organisation went through the services and saw several that could directly help the business,” Mr Vale said.
“A major concern was security and how it affected their insurance
premiums – and that is now sorted. They also want to grow within the
local community and we can help them achieve that through advice and
support.
“Now they have signed-up, there are also services like cost reduction,
online advertising, website support and signposting to funding which
might see their outgoings reduced too.
“So by exploring the different options they should be able to get out
more than they’ve put in and other BID members can do the same.”
