The broadband network will help power more than 300 CCTV cameras and
high-speed internet, in a project being delivered by the Coventry Best
for Business (B4B). "It is very important for local businesses to support one another - and it makes practical sense to work with other firms in Coventry too." The Coventry branch of Microlease was formed in the fallout of the Marconi job losses in 2003. Roger approached the Microlease company headquarters in Harrow to suggest a new Midlands base - and 15 skilled jobs were saved. The broadband contract will give the firm an opportunity to create new jobs. Coventry B4B's David Hoare, who acts as a business area champion for Little Heath, said: "When I first met with Microlease, it was fantastic to hear how they had secured an important contract with another Coventry firm. "One of our roles is to help Coventry businesses work closer with their neighbours, and Microlease is an example to other businesses of how to do that. "We asked if we could help them with anything else - and, like many other companies on industrial estates in the area, business crime and security was a concern. "As a result, and in conjunction with our plans to enhance security in Little Heath, we are installing 24/7 monitored CCTV cameras near their unit. Our 24/7 mobile security patrols will also visit the site at least four times daily. "We will also be introducing them to other organisations, such as Coventry & Warwick Universities, where their services may prove to be invaluable." For more information visit www.microlease.com |
